Welcome to your first step to wellness! Since you’ve made it to my page I can only assume you are interested in nutrition, your health, and how to combine the two.
Maybe you’ve wanted to go vegetarian/vegan for a long time but have been afraid to “pull the trigger” or you weren’t sure how to do it in a healthy way. Or maybe you’ve seen one of Netflix’s recent hit documentaries like “What the Health” or “Forks Over Knives” and you’re wondering what the hype is all about. Or maybe this is your first time hearing the term “plant-based”, which is totally fine too!
Whatever your reason is for finding me I want to clear up some questions and concerns that might be going through your mind right about now.
First off, you do not have to go vegan or any form of vegetarian to work with me! While I do advocate for a whole-foods, plant-based way of eating, I understand that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I respect that everyone is on a different path and their relationship with food is completely individualized. I want to help you achieve your wellness goals through nutrition, in whatever way you are most comfortable. That being said, I will challenge you to break through some of your ingrained beliefs and choices when it comes to food, and that includes adopting a more plant-based way of eating (while still having your favorite meals)!
Now that that’s out of the way you may be wondering what exactly I can help you with. I’m glad you asked! I’m here to help you meet whatever nutrition-related goals you have. For many people that’s weight loss. For others it’s following their physician-prescribed diet (low fat/cardiac, diabetic-friendly, low sodium, etc.). Maybe you just want to know what healthy food is, how to identify it at the grocery store, how to prepare it in a tasty and healthy way and how to sustain that throughout your life. Whatever your goals are, just let me know and we can work on a plan together! Check out my “Services” page to see what package or session is right for you.
Lastly, you may be wondering what makes me qualified to talk with you about your health. Well, you can read about my educational background on my “About” page for that information. What’s not listed on there is what I’m currently doing (aside from this) and what my passions are. I work at a children’s hospital as a metabolic/pediatric dietitian. I specialize in genetic disorders and inborn errors of metabolism such as PKU and Prader-Willi Syndrome. I am also a Certified Lactation Counselor, so I know a ton about maternal health and breastfeeding. It’s all really interesting (and demanding), and I love what I do!
Despite having a super rewarding and fulfilling day job, I can’t deny my entrepreneurial spirit! There’s a huge part of my heart and soul that belongs to plant-based education. It demands that I listen to the call to do this as well as my day job, even if it means having a crazy busy schedule! So what that means for you, as my client, is that you are getting the most passionate version of myself! I eat, sleep, breath, and live for this and I want to help you find that sort of passion about food/health as well!
